Managing the complexity of healthcare-related infection control requires a multidisciplinary and multi-professional approach and professionals with distinctive expertise on the subject. Among the professionals involved there is also the Infectious Risk Specialist Nurse (ISRI).
For the training of this professional figure, various 1st level masters are now operative in various Italian universities. Starting from the 2014/2015 academic year, the University of Parma, in collaboration with ANIPIO, has activated the 1st level Master in “Management of infectious risk related to health care”, now in its eighth edition. In the meantime, the hospital infection control activity has been organized, at the level of each individual Region, according to different goals, priorities and resources.
ANIPIO stimulated the recognition and development of nurses and other health professionals involved in the fight against healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
ANIPIO, has, among its purposes, also the nurses’ qualification and professional update on infectious risk, according to training models and paradigms of continuous learning or "lifelong learning".
Continuous training sees the direct involvement of the healthcare professional, who chooses to enrich their own set of skills to be spent in the context in which they work.
In this scenario, ANIPIO acts as a promoter of training moments, in the sponsored 1st level Masters, but also organizing seminars and conferences to discuss, question and confront each other on the issues of infectious risk. Among the latest events organized, we include the ANIPIO Annual Congress.
