Influenza spagnola e COVID-19. Curve epidemiologiche a confronto

Un parallelo fra l’epidemia di influenza spagnola che colpì dal 1918 al 1920 e quella da Sars-Cov-2 che da febbraio 2020sta imperversando a ogni latitudine.
Dall'influenza spagnola abbiamo appreso lezioni importanti sull'importanza della trasparenza e sull'efficacia del distanziamento e della quarantena: le misure di sanità pubblica continuano ad essere cruciali per mitigare ulteriori ondate di infezione e la minaccia di nuove varianti.
Ma ogni pandemia è unica e come cambierà il nostro mondo dopo la pandemia Covid-19 è ancora da scrivere.  Un’unica certezza: non sarà più lo stesso.


A comparison between the 1918-1920 Spanish flu pandemic that struck from 1918 to 1920 and the Sars-Cov-2 pandemic which has been spreading everywhere since February 2020.
Spanish flu pandemic taught us the importance of transparency, social distancing and quarantine: public health measures continue to have a pivotal role in mitigating further waves of infection and the threat of new variants of the virus. However, each pandemic is unique and we do not know how our world will change after the Covid-19 pandemic. One certainty: our world will never be the same.
